Founding Head of Data & AI / Clinical Data Platform Lead

is a Swiss veterinary healthtech company building a global, vertically integrated canine CKD care platform.
We combine proprietary renal nutrition, a phosphate binder currently under development, our own veterinary teams, our own nurses, home monitoring, home care, blood collection, diagnostics, longitudinal clinical data and future AI-assisted disease monitoring.
We are looking globally for a
**very senior Founding Head of Data & AI / Clinical Data Platform Lead**
to build the clinical data backbone of the company from the ground up.
This is a
**full-time, on-site leadership role based in Zurich, Switzerland**
. International candidates are welcome if they are willing to relocate or work from Zurich. The person will work directly with the Founder as the company and platform are built.
The Role
You will own the design, implementation and evolution of Fiona’s clinical data platform, including:
• Fiona’s prospective canine CKD registry
• Owner\_ID / Dog\_ID / Visit\_ID / Sample\_ID architecture
• clinical data architecture and database design
• data pipelines connecting nutrition, home monitoring, home care, blood collection, diagnostics and outcomes
• lab-value ingestion and harmonization
• data quality and QC pipelines
• medical and research dashboards
• secure Swiss / EU-oriented data infrastructure
• privacy-by-design governance
• MLOps and model-readiness for future predictive CKD monitoring
• management of external engineering and data vendors where needed
• building and mentoring a small data and AI team over time
The first priority is building clean, secure, longitudinal, medically meaningful data infrastructure. AI models come after the data backbone is real.
Required Profile
We are looking for a senior data leader with
**10+ years of relevant experience**
, or an equivalent senior track record, in building and scaling clinical, health, biomedical, diagnostic or regulated data platforms.
The candidate must have direct experience in clinical, health, biomedical, diagnostic, EHR, RWE, life-science or regulated data environments.
Required experience includes:
• strong Python and SQL skills
• experience with data architecture, database design and ETL pipelines
• experience with longitudinal health data, clinical registries, patient registries, EHR data, diagnostic data or real-world evidence datasets
• strong understanding of data quality, traceability, auditability and governance
• experience designing analysis-ready and model-ready datasets
• experience with secure cloud or server-based infrastructure
• understanding of machine learning and MLOps principles
• privacy-by-design mindset, including GDPR / Swiss or EU data protection awareness
• ability to work in an early-stage company with urgency, ownership and ambiguity
Highly Valuable
• experience with laboratory data, biomarkers or diagnostic workflows
• experience with longitudinal disease monitoring
• experience with health data standards such as FHIR, HL7 or OMOP
• experience in MedTech, Digital Health, Diagnostics, Pharma, Bioinformatics or Life Sciences
• experience turning messy real-world clinical data into structured, analysis-ready datasets
• interest in veterinary medicine, animal health or chronic disease monitoring
Location
Zurich, Switzerland.
Full-time, on-site.

Compensation
We offer a fully competitive compensation package for a very senior founding leadership profile.
The structure will depend on the candidate and may include competitive base compensation, performance-based components, relocation support and potential equity / option participation.
